Positive Behavior Interventions and Support

Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS) is an initiative that is a proactive approach to establishing the behavioral supports and social culture needed for all students in a school to achieve social, emotional, and academic success. White Oak was named a PBIS Model School in 2013-14, an Exemplar School in 2014-15 and in 2015-16 and a Model School in 2016-17! For 2017-18, we were, once again, named an Exemplar School!
At White Oak, we use the following reward system with our students:
Individual rewards for students are given "Cubbie Paws" when they are caught doing something exceptional. There are also Cubbie Paws for bus behavior. These are collected in the "Cub Tubs" in the office and names are drawn from these tubs each morning on Cubbie TV. Students whose names are drawn get to choose a prize from the treasure chest.
Class rewards are given to classes who have the chance to earn "Cubbie stripes" for meeting behavior expectations. Stripes can be given to classes by any staff member including their own teacher. Stripes are kept on a pan on the wall outside each classroom and it takes 10 stripes to fill a pan. Stripe pan fill ups are kept track of and rewards are given to classes after filling pans in increments of 10. Other special rewards are offered during the year.
