About Us

I am so excited to welcome back our returning families and give a big Bulldog welcome to those who are new to Chowan. As your proud principal, I’m looking forward to another great year filled with learning, growth, and working together to help our students succeed.
At Chowan, we believe school is more than just academics: it’s about connection, growth, and opportunity. This year, students will have the chance to join a variety of clubs and activities that encourage creativity, curiosity, and confidence. From STEM to the arts, we’re proud to give students ways to explore their passions. Our athletics program also continues to be a big part of our school spirit, helping students grow as leaders, teammates, and individuals.
We are fully staffed with a strong, caring team ready to support every student. Our teachers and staff are here to challenge, encourage, and guide your child through a successful school year.
At the heart of everything we do is our PAWS motto:
- Purpose
- Attitude
- Will
- Scholarship
That means we show grit, spirit, and heart in everything we do. From parades, dances, and Bulldog rallies, there’s something here for everyone. You’ll quickly see that CMS is a place where everyone every role works towards one goal.
Keep an eye out for upcoming orientation dates, family events, and ways to stay connected all year long. And if you ever have questions or need support, our doors (and inboxes!) are always open.
Respectfully,
🐾 Brittney Lopez
